Trinidad and Tobago WW2 'Win the War' badge. Sadly, no information is known about the item. We have not seen another like it to date. In our speculations, it was made to support the troops or the war effort. Beautiful design, blackened copper. Simple pin fastener (soldered). 37mm x 36mm. Unusual and likely rare. Early Scottish Territorial Red Cross Brigade badge. Organization was originally founded in 1908. It was approved by the War Office as the Scottish Branch of the British Red Cross Society. It was intended as a formation of voluntary aid detachments for service in the event of war. It comprised of 3 districts, each containing number of counties. Badges were only issued to registered
members of detachments and had to be purchased by the member. The Brigade was immediately mobilised after the proclamation of War in 1914. Sadly, there are no mentions of the Brigade after that - wheather it changed name/structure - is not known (Scottish Red Cross did not seem to know much about the history...). Badge offered is a beautiful, original period one. Brass with loops (lugs) and pin. Original faded red backing is still present but in fragile state. Should be regarded as rare. A most interesting and really nice looking badge. Quite large, measuring 56mm in diameter. Die struck and slightly vaulted. Worn condition with excellent patina. Item # Rdc-144 *SOLD*

K.C.V.O. (Knight Commander Victorian Order) - original presentation case. Excellent quality wood box, bound with leather textured paper. Order`s class is impressed and filled with gold ink on the lid (K.C.V.O.). Satin liner under, manufacturers stamp in gold: ``Collingwood & Co`` etc. Green silk coverings of the rest, rich green plush raised bed, fitted for the neck badge and a breast star; ribbon well underneath this insert. Pull tab intact. Set belonged to the Knight number 453, there is a paper sticker indicating so on the underside of the box (K 453). All hardware (hinge and release assembly) functional. Box shows light age on the outside, few paper rubs and slight tears - none of it detractive. Inside is in excellent condition. While not having the records for this class`s issuance, based on the other known recipients (and their numbers) - it would be reasonable to deduct it`s vintage being circa late 1920s into early 1930s. Masurements: 22cm long, 11cm wide and 45mm in thickness (height). If you`re missing a box for this coveted Order, this is the one for you! Item # Eng-105 *SOLD*

1911 Rocket Apparatus Volunteer Long Service Medal (The Life Saving Apparatus). Awarded by the Board of Trade, who were responsible for the marine rescue services (which later became the Coastguard Auxiliary Service). The rocket apparatus was an ingenious method of getting a line from shore to shipwrecks in order to bring the crew safely ashore, especially where rocks made the use of lifeboats impractical or dangerous. The 'rocket' with line attached was fired onto the ship and affixed. People and goods were transferred along the line. Official requirements to received the medal were as follows: "To qualify a man must have served 20 years, been of uniformly good character and prompt and regular in rendering service when called out on wreck duty and at quarterly drills, and be recommended".

Silver medal, full inscriptions. The recipient's name is engraved in the reverse: 'Harry Blowers'. Complete with short original ribbon. Y.M.C.A. War Worker's badge, North Eastern region. The Young Men's Christian Association has rather unique history as it performed an exceedingly important role helping to uphold soldier's morale during WW1 and WW2. Offered here is a nice round badge of the scarce 'North Eastern' region. Bronze, two tone enamels with only slight chipping at 6 o'clock. Shows age and wear. Khedive's Sudan Medal 1910. This is the silver medal of the 2nd type, probably manufactured and issued after 1917. Excellent condition, few contact marks. Small test mark on the rim. Long original ribbon (nicely watermarked). Proper, non swivelling suspension. Fairy rare on the marked. Unnamed as issued (this is also proper although some named examples are known to exist). 36.5mm in diameter, 3mm planchet. Maker/designer's mark on the reverse - next to the tip of the spear. WW1 Royal Naval Division 'ANSON' Battalion cap badge. Interestiang variant in darkened copper - By J.R. Gaunt, London. The Royal Naval Division was nicknamed "Winston's Little Army" after Winston Churchill who founded it in 1914. The unit was deployed in Gallipoli and on the Western Front where it saw a lot of action. 'British-American' cap badge. This was a 'King's Colonials - Imperial Yeomanry' unit - B Squadron consisting for the most part of Canadians. It was essentially a British unit, raised (in that form) in 1901. In 1909 Crown Colonies attained status of Dominions, the term "Colonial Squadrons" was abolished and of a consequence, the Squadron badges were no longer made and replaced by one listing all Dominions. Offered here is a very nice and original example of the 'beaver' badge. Note there are many copies of this on the market. Darkened brass, very good details. 50mm x 45.5mm. Group of 5 Crimean War items to a French National. Starting with Legion of Honour, 2nd Empire period - Knight class. Military Medal - 2nd Empire type; British Crimean War medal; French award of Sevastopol campaign medallion and Crimean War 'Inkermann' belt buckle.

- Legion of Honour (1852-1870) in silver with gold centers, few old repairs to arm tips (typical). Original ribbon. Silver standard mark to wreath ties along with maker mark (partial) for Victor Lemoine (official maker of the LOH - son of Ouzille Lemoine). Cross is regulation size - 41mm wide. Good and better condition, blue ribband enamels are betten then in picture.

- Military Medal 2nd type (1852-1870) in silver/gilt. Boar head mark to tip of the wing. Original ribbon is fragile and torn. Full sized medal - 26mm x 46mm. Shows wear and age but good overall condition.

- British Crimean War Medal 1854 with bar 'Sebastopol'. Medal issued unnamed as was the custom for French recipients. Remarkable original ribbon (few rubs and pulls), bar appears to be not tempered with; suspension arm has been soldered at some point but is very hard to notice (see image). Medal shows wear but details are still very good. ø 36mm.

- The Fall of Sebastopol, Copper medal by Desaide Roquelay,
laureate bust left, reverse of Imperial eagle with trophies. Legend on crowned shield, PRISE DE SÉBASTOPOL

- 'Inkermann' belt buckle - blackened brass, very interesting piece with French and English flags, Turkish crescent moon above. Duke of Wellington's Peninsular War Restitution commemorative medal. Type 'A'. Historica Medalla De Liberacion De España Y Portugal Nombrando Las Batallas De Wellington Contra Napoleon. Well struck in bronze. Wellington's bust on obverse, inscribed: 'Hispaniam Et Lusitaniam Restituit Wellington'. Reverse inscribed around the rim: 'Vimiera Aug.21 1808, Talavera July 28 1809, Almeida May 5 1811'. Center inscriptions: 'Ciudad Rodrigo Jan 19 1812, Badajoz April 2 1812, Salamanca July 22 1812, &c. &c. &c'. Original medal (copies do exist), slanted ribbing to rim. 1916 War badge. The badge was awarded to all of those military personnel who were discharged as a result of sickness or wounds contracted or received during the War, either at home or overseas. Silver, cut-out version, vertical brooch-mounted and number C3763 impressed to reverse ("C" indicates issue to a Canadian). Offered here is the 1st issue, made between September 1916 – March 1918 (according to ‘The Collector and Researcher’s Guide to the Great War’ by Howard Williamson). Order of the Bath, Complete set of Civil Knight Commander with Star! Badge in gold, star in silver and gold. Fantastic early quality. Made by R&S Garrard & Co, Goldsmiths and Jewellers to the Crown, 25 Hay Market, London (marked in embossed gold to underside of lid). Badge in 18K Gold. Well-marked with all appropriate punch marks. Gold punches to suspension ring as well. Full neck ribbon, 28" long, (720mm long), 50mm wide. Multi-part breast star is rather spectacular, centre legend and crowns are separately applied. Rich red enamels intact. Wide vertical pin in great condition. Star dimensions: 75.5mm x 75.5mm. Badge dimensions: 56.6mm high (bottom to top of fixed suspension eye) 36.7mm wide. Suspension eye: 2.7mm thick, 17.5mm diameter. Markings appropriate of 1887-1888 with Garrard's firm punch marks. Original case of issue with flip out tray allows for storage of excess neck ribbon. Order of British Empire, 2nd type Civil, Ladies' Commander badge in original case of issue by Garrard. Ladies' awards are generally harder to find as fewer were issued. The second type of this award has been issued since 1937. Badge with bow ribbon. Swiveled crown suspension. Enamels intact, gilding very good. This remarkable set comes complete with: Statutes of the Order - 1970 revision (33 pages plus plates with illustrations), glossy paper brochure on Diamond Jubilee of the Most Excellent Order of The British Empire, 3 official letters from the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood, one of which is an official Warrant of Appointment to the O.B.E. The book of statutes alone would cost about $60 to obtain. Great set, would look great mounted in a case. Badge dimensions: 63.5mm x 82mm (to top of crown suspension retainer). Centre disk: 23mm in diameter. Also included is a full neck ribbon for this grade (besides the correct bow ribbon) and printed instructions for wearing the badge of the third class of an Order - Ladies (e.g. C.B, C.M.G, C.V.O, C.B.E). 1793-1814 Military General Service Medal to J.W.Morrison, Lieut 79th Foot (impressed to rim) - this was the Cameron Highlanders unit. Two bars: Corunna and Salamanca. Fantastic example, period ribbon with button-hole mount. Complete with original cardboard box of issue (very rare find!). Comes with small, period newspaper snippet pertaining to wearing manner of the medals. Very little wear, few minor edge bumps (very small). Some scratches to the left of Queen's neck. No mounts have been tampered with. Edge rim uniform in width all the way around. Great example of this desirable medal. Name and bars confirmed on the Roll (by A.L.T Mullen). 'On War Service 1914' - The Admiralty Badge. Issued to essential war workers, as specified by the Admiralty memo of 26th December, 1914: "workmen whose services are indispensible for the rapid completion of HM Ships and Armaments". Early in 1915, the badge changed appearance with addition of Royal crown atop and arms in the centre similar to those of the Army Ordinance Corps, with enamels. These were to have a serial number impressed to reverse. The next type dropped enamels altogether. A badge for women followed with yet another design. Presented here is the bronze gilt 1914 Admiralty version badge. Lapel slide fastener slightly bent. Light scratches and one tiny chip (3 o'clock) to enamel. Gilding still nice on obverse. 1914-15 Star to Highland Light Infantry. Third type. Awarded to those who saw service in WW1 between August 1914 and December 1915, except those who qualified for the 1914 star (first type). Bronze. Abyssinian War 1867-8 medal in silver. One of the more bloodless of British campaigns with merely 2 British casualties. This war resulted from the Abyssinian King (Theodore)'s imprisonment of the British Consul and other personnel. After negotiations, the prisoners were released only to immediately be re-arrested along with the negotiators. As a result, the city of Magdala (capitol) was captured and burned to the ground while King committed suicide. Medal has great detail to all. Ribbon appears to be of age, has reddish stains. Reverse is engraved: '1217 Pte. R. Clooney 45 Regt' in rather sloppy way. Few minor edge dings and scratches (nothing serious though). Very good condition. Item # Eng-53 *SOLD*

English Masonic badge. Appears to be 1920's vintage. Bronze or copper with silver plating. Starburst design with enamelled centre disk inscribed "In hoc signo vinces" (In this sign, thou shalt conquer). Age darkening and considerable wear to silver plating. Enamels intact. Maker-marked "A. Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. Silver neck badge of Commander (Brother). Good early quality, most likely circa WW1. Quite heavy construction, comprised of 2 halves (visible seam line). This construction is rather rarely observed, thus it is not likely from the usual maker of insignia for British Priory. Enamels intact. Shows light wear and wonderful patina.
